India’s capital city is New Delhi. It is in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, in the northern part of the country. New Delhi is a planned city that was inaugurated in 1931 as the new capital of British India by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker.

New Delhi is a major political, cultural, and commercial center of India, and it is home to numerous government buildings, embassies, and diplomatic missions. Some of the major tourist attractions in New Delhi include the India Gate, Lotus Temple, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and the Akshardham Temple.
