- Hima Das had an inclination towards sports since childhood and she used to play many types of sports since childhood.
- It is said that Hima used to play football with boys during her school days and it was during this time that her stamina increased significantly. Because of which she did not get tired quickly while running.
- Hima was first advised to become a racer by the teacher of Physical Education of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Recently, she has become the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in the World Athletics Championship track competition. In February 2021, the runner Hima Das was made the Deputy Superintendent of Assam police by the Assam government. During the program, Hima Das expressed her happiness that she had a childhood dream here.
