Born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, Jim Carrey began his career as a stand-up comedian before becoming a successful movie star.

Carrey's early life was marked by poverty and difficulty. He dropped out of school at the age of 16 to work as a janitor to help support his family.

However, he always had a talent for comedy and began performing at local clubs in Toronto.

His first major breakthrough came in 1990 when he joined the cast of the sketch comedy series "In Living Color."
