Vin Diesel, born Mark Sinclair Vincent, is a well-known American actor, producer, and director.

He rose to fame in the late 1990s with his breakthrough role in the movie "Saving Private Ryan" (1998).

Since then, he has become one of Hollywood's most recognizable actors, known for his tough-guy roles in action movies such as the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

Born on July 18, 1967, in Alameda County, California, Diesel grew up in New York City's Greenwich Village with his mother and stepfather.

He started acting at a young age, performing in local theater productions and attending acting school in New York.

Diesel's breakthrough role came in 1998, when he played Private Adrian Caparzo in the Steven Spielberg-directed war movie "Saving Private Ryan."

This role put him on the Hollywood map and led to other significant roles, including the lead in the sci-fi movie "Pitch Black" (2000) and the action thriller "XXX" (2002).

However, it was the "Fast and Furious" franchise that made Diesel a household name.

He played the lead role of Dominic Toretto in the first movie, released in 2001, and has since appeared in most of the subsequent movies in the series.
